THE POTENCY OF YOUR VITAMINS IS IMPORTANT

 

In order to boost your metabolism, there are thousands of internal body processes and chemical reactions that must happen so that the body can carry out an extraction of energy from the foods and nutrients that you eat.  If these internal chemical processes and changes in your body don’t perform efficiently, your body will produce very little energy and will continue having a “slow metabolism”.

To extract the energy that foods contain and turn it into useable energy for the metabolism, the human body uses more than 500 different enzymes.  The enzymes themselves, in turn, depend on specific vitamins and minerals to be able to do their job.

Modern medical authorities have tried to play down the importance of supplementing your diet with vitamins and minerals.  They claim that “there isn’t sufficient evidence” to prove that there are vitamin or mineral deficiencies amongst our population.  Oddly enough, there was a recent study that showed that less than 20% of doctors recommend that their patients take a daily vitamin or mineral supplement.  However, the same study revealed that 56% (the majority) of doctors personally take some sort of daily supplement of vitamins.  It’s a professional attitude of “it’s not necessary” along with the personal attitude of “let me take them just in case”.

I can tell you that from the experience of working with thousands of people, if you don’t take high potency vitamin and mineral supplements, you will not successfully increase your metabolism nor slim down at a decent speed.  It’s the truth, without potent vitamins, you won’t make it.  And if the vitamins that you take are the commercial types that are low potency, like the vitamins put out by Centrum®, you won’t succeed, either.

You see, vitamins vary by the potency of their dose. Commercial vitamins like Centrum® and various others only contain 1 or 2 milligrams of the B complex vitamins (B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5, and B-6).  Good potency vitamins contain 25 to 50 milligrams of each one of the B vitamins.  In other words, they are 25 to 50 times more potent than the commercial ones.

One area where you shouldn’t try to save or “cut corners” is in your selection of a good potency multivitamin formula. If you buy cheap vitamins that are low potency, you can apply the phrase “being cheap is expensive” because you will not overcome your “slow metabolism”.  You will have lost your time again and you will have to add another failure to your long list.  Without strong vitamins and minerals you will not succeed.

When you go to buy vitamins pay attention to the dosage size per each vitamin or mineral that the formula contains.  High potency vitamins never have less than 25 milligrams of each one of the B complex vitamins.  The B complex vitamins are the ones that control the production of energy in your body.  Without them, your body will not be able to produce enough energy to be able to boost your metabolism.

When you take high potency multivitamins and minerals every day, you feel a difference.  With commercial vitamins, you don’t feel a difference.


There are several vitamins and minerals that are closely related to the processes of your metabolism.  Many years of having consumed a poor diet high in refined carbohydrates produces an accumulation of deficiencies that affects the production of energy down to the cellular level.  Generally, the more overweight or obese a person is, the more vitamin and mineral deficiencies they will have.
  
On the other hand, there are various medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and various other conditions that cause a vitamin deficiency in your body.  To mention a few of them, aspirin causes vitamin C and B-12 deficiencies.  Vitamin B-12 is essential for hemoglobin , which are the cells that transport oxygen to your body cells.  The condition where one has low hemoglobin is called anemia.  The same thing happens with medications that are used to control high cholesterol which actually deplete certain vitamins and minerals in the body.

Some vitamin and mineral deficiencies directly impact the functioning of the thyroid gland that controls your body’s metabolism.  For example, the thyroid produces the T4 hormone but this hormone isn’t an active hormone until an enzyme called deiodinase converts the T4 into the T3 hormone.  The enzyme deiodinase completely depends on the mineral called selenium .  This is why it has been found that all the people that are hypothyroid are also deficient in this mineral, selenium. 


The thyroid gland can’t manufacture the T4 hormone if it doesn’t have enough of the minerals zinc or copper.  The body needs very small amounts of these minerals, but missing even these small amounts will make it impossible for the thyroid gland to produce the needed T4 hormone if it lacks either zinc, copper, or selenium.

For the body trying to produce thyroid hormones without having zinc, copper or selenium is like trying to construct a building without having any cement.

On the other hand, a diabetic’s insulin is impossible to make when there is a deficiency of the mineral magnesium.  Many diabetics are diabetic due to their bodies producing an insulin hormone that seems to be defective and it creates a condition called “insulin resistance”.  As soon as they start taking a high potency multivitamin and minerals formula, diabetics notice that their blood glucose levels start to go down and become easier to control.  With their body getting the vitamins and minerals that it needs, it stops producing the defective insulin hormone and this contributes to the normalizing of their blood sugar (glucose).
