The Power of your Metabolism
Time to RecoverBREAKING THE HABIT
As we saw before, refined carbohydrates have the power of causing an addiction. The addiction can be a light one (the minority of the cases), but in some cases it is a very strong addiction (the majority of the cases). There are people that are seriously “trapped” in this addiction and can’t even go one day without their “fix”.
I’ve seen cases where people must have their Coca-Cola®, Pepsi-ColaÒ, 7-UpÒ, chocolate, candy, bread or some other refined carbohydrate every day. They simply have to have them or they feel like something is missing. These people are hostages of their addiction to refined carbohydrates. If they try not to eat them, they feel very anxious and it affects their mood in a negative way.
If you feel anxious or have a strong “craving” for a certain food on a daily basis, be assured that what you are experiencing is an addictive relationship with this food. In my case, I had an addiction to rice, as I live in Puerto Rico where rice is a staple food. I thought that eating a meal without rice was like not eating at all. Believe me, rice was what caused my weight problem and my slow metabolism. There are other people whose addiction is to bread or cake, for some it is candy, and for many others, their addiction is to soft drinks like Coca-Cola®. However, there are some that don’t discriminate and their addiction is to all refined carbohydrates in general, without caring what it might be.
To free yourself from one of these addictions it is important that you know two things:
- That you should break away from your addiction GRADUALLY.
- That you can experience unpleasant physical reactions. Drug addicts refer to them as “withdrawal symptoms”.
If you feel that you are experiencing an addiction to a food, the first thing to do is to recognize that you have the addiction. The second is to come up with a plan to break away from the addiction. This plan should include having a day in which you can still have the food (rice, bread, chocolate, sugar, etc.), but a smaller amount than usual. This “preparatory” day, which is the day before breaking away from the food or the foods that are causing your addiction, is vital. The idea is to do it GRADUALLY, without causing a crisis in your body.
Starting on the “preparatory” day, or the day before completely breaking away from the addiction, you should begin drinking large quantities of water. The water hydrates your body and creates an environment that allows you to get rid of what your body wants to get rid of during the process. It is vital to drink as much water as you can.
The day that you totally break away should be a day in which you only eat meat (ideally chicken, turkey or fish), cheese (any kind), and eggs (fried, boiled, in an omelette or scrambled). There are only 3 types of foods that you should eat during that breaking away day: meat, cheese and eggs. For example, an omelette with cheese and sausages would be appropriate. It’s pure protein and no carbohydrates.
During the breaking away day what you are trying to do is “break the habit” by getting rid of ALL the sources of carbohydrates in your body so that you can break your addictive relationship with them.
That’s why during the break away day you aren’t to eat any type of carbohydrates. This means that during that day, you won’t even eat salad, vegetables, fruit or vegetable juices, milk, or have sugar in your coffee (you can have your coffee black) or eat anything that contains carbohydrates. You will eat only meat, cheese and eggs. You can eat all that you want of these three types of foods, and you won’t feel hungry. Meats can be fried in oil, baked or cooked in some other way. You can use any condiments like garlic, oregano, etc. The way you prepare the meat doesn’t matter, what you need to do is “break the habit”, and you can achieve this by completely breaking away from all carbohydrates for one full day. The ideal scene is to do this for two full days and that way you will be sure that the addiction is broken for good.
During the breaking away period, drinking more water will be even more vital. Your body produces the hormone cortisol during the breaking away because taking away your addictive foods causes a certain level of stress. Cortisol is called “the stress hormone”. The breaking away period causes stress to your body and water helps to remove this hormone while calming down your hormonal system.
If, in doing this, you experience reactions like migraines, headaches, itchy skin, vaginal discharge, diarrhea or muscle pain, then the problem is that your body is severely infected by the candida albicans yeast (see the topic CANDIDA ALBICANS, THE SILENT EPIDEMIC).
When your body is extremely infected by this yeast, which is what happens to many people who are overweight, the reaction to breaking away from carbohydrates can be very unpleasant. If it happens that the infection of the candida yeast is an extensive one, it can be made up of several million yeast organisms. This yeast completely depends on carbohydrates for its livelihood. Without carbohydrates, the yeast can’t survive. This is why the yeast starts to die and rot inside your body when you break away from all carbohydrates in your diet; the yeast is left without its food. When this yeast starts to rot, it fills your body full of acids and toxins that the rotting yeast produces and causes all of the unpleasant symptoms like migraines, headaches, muscular pain and various others. Generally, the symptoms don’t last more than a day, but I must say that they can be extremely unpleasant.
Within the Natural Slim™ system, we’ve spent nearly 10 years helping thousands of people to break their addiction to carbohydrates. We have developed natural supplements that dramatically reduce the side effects of the withdrawal syndrome. At Natural Slim™, we also use special natural programs to cleanse the body of the candida albicans yeast, so that you can speed up your metabolism.
My reason for explaining the existence of these addictions is so as not to leave you with incomplete information. The ideal situation would be that a person that feels “addicted” to a food or a certain group of foods could receive the personalized attention of a system like Natural Slim™. This isn’t always possible due to distance or other reasons. However, you should know that these addictions are a factor by which many people start their diet every Monday and by Wednesday they have already abandoned their diet and are eating “the same as always”.
