The Power of your Metabolism
Natural AidsAdaptogens
From 1947 to 1991, there was a period called the Cold War between the United States and Russia. There was an extremely hostile and competitive atmosphere. These two powerful nations were competing at all levels to win alliances in their respective ideologies.
At that time, the Russians tried to show the rest of the world that their technology, military power, physical and sports abilities were the best. Both nations competed in a race of outer space launchings and nuclear technology.
In the area of sports and international athletic competitions, the Russians and their allies stood out as outstanding athletes and sportsmen. They especially showed that they had great physical strength and resistance that was unmatched. At the Olympic Games, the Russian athletes always ended up earning many of the top awards.
Part of the Russians athletic success was due to their use of the “adaptogens”. The term “adaptogen” was created by the Russians to describe a group of natural substances that have certain special qualities. They are substances that help the human body adapt to conditions of internal and external stress. They are substances that help the body resist situations of stress that would normally have a negative effect on its functioning.
Adaptogens aren’t anything like stimulating substances such as caffeine, guarana or ephedrine . Adaptogens are substances that help the body achieve an ideal balance of internal energies. For example, a natural adaptogen substance tends to lower blood pressure if a person is suffering from high blood pressure. But, this same adaptogen also has the effect of increasing blood pressure if a person has low blood pressure. In other words, the adaptogens “adapt” to the body and contribute to it attaining a more balanced state of cellular function.
There are natural substances that lower blood pressure, like garlic. There are also substances that increase blood pressure, like caffeine or salt. However, adaptogens tend to stabilize blood pressure and the other functions of the body. It is said that adaptogens are “bidirectional” because they work in opposite directions depending on what the need is. This means that they speed up body systems that are very slow (for example, a “slow metabolism”), while slowing and calming down the conditions of emotional stress that obesity has been known to cause.
Adaptogens are natural substances that regulate the internal chemistry of your body in the necessary direction to achieve balance. They increase your body’s resistance to stressful situations (being overweight, physical weakness, tiredness, emotional stress, etc.). They give the impression of being “intelligent” substances that cause an increase or decrease of whatever is necessary in your body so as to achieve a better level of adaptation as well as physical, mental and emotional equilibrium.
The Russians conducted secret scientific studies for many years on adaptogens with the idea of gaining an advantage with their soldiers, athletes and astronauts. They did extensive studies with their populations to determine the qualities and effects of adaptogens. These studies were kept secret by the Russian state and only their contracted scientists worked on them. The athletes and astronauts secretly used adaptogens to gain more power, better physical strength, mental concentration, coordination and shorter reaction time.
On December 25, 1991, the Soviet Union collapsed as a nation, and the communist party that had been dominating Russia for so many generations lost its control on the Soviet state. That day the Soviet Union dissolved into independent countries and the scientists that had been secretly working with the adaptogens were left without jobs. Many of these scientist emigrated to Europe or the United States, and they took the information that they had learned about the amazing adaptogens with them.
There are more than 3,700 herbs on our planet that have been classified and documented as natural based on their individual properties. However, only 11 of them are considered “adaptogens”. In order for a type of herb or plant to be considered an adaptogen, it must have the special characteristic of being able to work in two opposite directions according to what the body needs. In other words, it must have the characteristic of being bidirectional in the way it works. Only 11 of the herbs or plants on the planet fulfill this requirement.
The adaptogens that interest us are the ones that have effects of improving our metabolism and whose qualities contribute to burning fat, controlling stress, reducing inflammation, increasing energy and physical resistance, natural antidepressant effects, and improve our immune system. Some of them include rhodiola rosea, rhododendron caucasicum, rhaponticum carthamoides and ashwagandha. They are odd names because they are from their botanic origin.
The qualities of these natural adaptogens are very impressive. When you use them along with a 2x1 or 3x1 diet©, in addition to other good habits like drinking a lot of water to improve hydration, you will notice a significant improvement in your metabolism and energy. You’ll see results that are reflected in your energy levels and in your clothing, since they will keep fitting looser and looser.
Guarana – A Brazilian berry which contains approximately three times more caffeine than coffee beans. It is used as a stimulant in many sport and weight loss supplements.
