Coconut oil is a saturated fat. That is true. Now, all saturated fats are not “bad” in the same way that there is “good” and “bad” cholesterol. In the past we thought that all cholesterol was “bad”, up until it was discovered that there are significant differences between the two types of cholesterol.
The saturated fat that coconut oil contains is a fat called medium chain triglycerides, or MCT’s. In fact, it is a type of saturated fat whose molecule is very small and which the body does not use to build more fat.
The saturated fat molecules in coconut oil are so small that the body sends them DIRECTLY to the cells to be turned into energy without first going through the liver’s filter, which is what happens with all other fats and oils that we eat. Coconut oil contains saturated fats that almost instantly turn into ENERGY. That helps us boost our metabolism and slim down.
