The Power of your Metabolism
WHEY PROTEIN
It is known that proteins boost the metabolism because they are foods that have a high concentration of energy. That’s why every day you should eat a breakfast that is high in proteins and low in carbohydrates; to “wake up” your metabolism.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is certain, but it is never more important than when we want to overcome a “slow metabolism” and slim down. So eating a breakfast that is high in protein is vital!
Proteins are the most difficult foods for your body to digest. On the other hand, carbohydrates are the easiest foods for your body to digest. Proteins require that your body uses a good part of its own energy to break up the molecules that store their energy. Proteins are tough and give your body a lot of work to do during digestion.
The easiest way to visualize this is by taking note of the amount of time that each food has to stay in the stomach before being able to continue on its journey through the intestine. For example, it takes up to 2 hours for carbohydrates to finish their digestive process in the stomach to then passing unto the intestines. However, proteins take 3 to 4 hours to digest before they can enter the intestine. Proteins contain more than double the energy (9 calories per gram) than carbohydrates (4 calories per gram), that’s why they take nearly double the time to digest. Proteins are made up of concentrated energy.
One of the reasons that foods that are high in proteins hold off hunger for many hours, is for precisely this reason. Proteins take a while to digest, but provide concentrated energy for longer periods of time.
In one of the hundreds of books that I’ve read to learn more about topics related to the metabolism, the author used an example that I think adequately describes the difference between proteins and carbohydrates. This author explained that if you are going to build a bonfire, you will have to put some logs together and then put some dry twigs and leaves underneath the logs to be able to get a fire going. The dry twigs and leaves catch fire quickly, but they don’t burn for very long. On the contrary, the logs take a lot longer to catch fire, but as soon as they do, they burn for many hours. Well, carbohydrates are like the dry twigs and leaves. They are digested quickly, but their energy is short lived. Proteins are like logs, they take a long time to digest, but provide energy for a long period of time.
Carbohydrates are needed just as much as proteins. The thing is that if we want to have a good metabolism and slim down, we need to increase our intake of foods that provide long lasting energy like proteins and reduce those foods that only provide short term energy like refined carbohydrates. Our metabolism is comparable to a burning fire that needs to maintain its warmth. To keep your metabolism warm, you must feed it proteins, not refined carbohydrates. The 2x1© or 3x1 Diet© provides this type of combination that keeps the metabolism going at a fast rate by maintaining a low proportion of refined carbohydrates.
The difficulty in digesting proteins causes a loss of absorption of the amino acids that they contain. It is estimated that in general you can only absorb 70% of proteins (meat, eggs, cheese). The other 30% is wasted because your body can’t use or absorb it.
Between the different types of proteins that exist (there are many), the one that has shown to be the most beneficial in boosting the metabolism is whey protein. Whey proteins have a higher level of absorption, about 80%, that the body can make use of.
There are whey protein shakes on the market that come with digestive enzymes that are specially prepared for this type of protein and increase the absorption level up to 98%, which is exceptional. The better absorption that you have, the more of a metabolism increase you will have. When you drink a whey protein shake as a replacement for breakfast, you slim down much faster because it speeds up the metabolism from early in the morning.
A high quality whey protein shake that is low in carbohydrates will produce a relatively low and stable level of glucose in your blood. When you replace your breakfast with a whey protein shake, you don’t feel hunger or cravings for a prolonged period of time. This type of breakfast provides a sense of energy that you actually notice. It is an ideal breakfast for someone who is trying to slim down or is diabetic.
The ideal thing to do is to prepare a whey protein shake and put a dose of organic coconut oil in it. Organic coconut oil has the advantage of being flavorless. So it doesn’t taste like coconut, and it doesn’t change the flavor of the shake.
Organic coconut oil mixed with a shake satisfies your hunger, since all fats have the effect of satisfying hunger. Fats provide us with a sense of fullness that lasts for many hours and this eliminates the necessity of having snacks.
Coconut oil mixed with a whey protein shake also takes away your cravings. There simply won’t be any hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) episodes when you drink whey protein shakes combined with organic coconut oil.
You could have a 2x1 or 3x1 breakfast with a couple of fried eggs and a little bit of bread. This would be adequate for following the 2x1 or 3x1 Diet©, but it would never make you slim down as quickly as the whey protein shake reinforced with the organic coconut oil.
Body builders have popularized whey protein shakes. This is due to the fact that they want to build muscle and reduce fat. Nothing does this more efficiently than whey protein, above all, if the shake comes prepared with digestive enzymes that increase the absorption of proteins to their maximum potential.
Another good strategy is to reinforce the whey protein shake with the natural amino acid L-Glutamine. This amino acid has the quality of getting glucose levels (blood sugar) to remain stable without rises or slumps for many hours. So, the amino acid L-Glutamine stabilizes your blood sugar. When glucose levels are maintained in your blood, you won’t feel any types of cravings or desires for sugar, chocolates or refined carbohydrates. You could find yourself standing in front of your favorite dessert and you wouldn’t feel any desire to eat it. The amino acid L-Glutamine has been successful in Europe in detoxification programs for drugs like cocaine and heroin. It is an amino acid that has anti-addictive qualities.
Whey proteins have effects that promote wellness in the immune system and help fight infections. These proteins are being used in various hospitals to treat cancer patients because they increase the immune system.
To my understanding, there isn’t a better way to start the day than by getting your metabolism to its maximum potential by drinking a whey protein shake combined with a dose of organic coconut oil. I’ve seen this technique work case after case over the years, even for people that have suffered from the so-called “slow metabolism”.
